Beginner's Yoga Course January 2026

Updated: 5 days ago

If you’ve ever thought “I’m not flexible enough for yoga,” or “I wouldn’t know what to do,” you’re not alone. I hear those words all the time. The truth is, yoga was never meant to be about touching your toes — it’s about learning how to be present, kind, and patient with yourself. And that’s precisely what my 6-week Introduction to Yoga for Beginners course is designed to help you discover.

Starting in January 2026, this course offers a gentle, grounding way to begin. Whether you’ve never stepped on a yoga mat before, or it’s been years since you last tried, this is your invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself after the rush of daily life.

A Gentle Start — for Every Body

When you step into the class, you’ll find a warm, welcoming space where every body, age, and ability is truly embraced. I keep the atmosphere friendly and relaxed — there’s no pressure to “get it right,” no competition, and absolutely no judgement.

I guide you carefully through the foundations of Hatha Yoga — simple postures (asana), breathing practices (pranayama), and mindfulness techniques — giving you time to explore how each one feels in your own body. I offer plenty of options and adjustments, so whether you’re managing an old injury, stiff shoulders, or a bit of self-doubt, you’ll feel safe and supported from the very beginning.

My aim isn’t to make you “better” at yoga; it’s to help you feel better — in your body, your mind, and your day-to-day life.

What I Love About Teaching Beginners

There’s something truly special about guiding someone through their first few classes. I love watching that moment when a student realises yoga isn’t about performance — it’s about presence. When the breath softens, the shoulders drop, and you can almost see the nervous energy begin to settle into calm.

By the end of the six weeks, people often tell me they’re sleeping more deeply, thinking more clearly, and noticing less tension in their body. Their aches have eased, their confidence has grown, and they’ve found a little pocket of stillness they can return to whenever life feels noisy. That transformation — quiet but profound — is what keeps me so passionate about teaching this course.

What You Can Expect

Each week builds gently on the last, introducing new poses, breathwork, and simple mindfulness tools to take into daily life. You’ll learn how to move with awareness, how to breathe through stress, and how to rest deeply.

You’ll also receive a weekly email from me after each session, expanding on what we’ve explored in class and offering little reflections, readings, or practices to try at home. By the end, you’ll have built not only a foundation of yoga knowledge, but also a toolkit of calming techniques to support you long after the course ends.

And to help you continue your journey, you’ll receive a free yoga class voucher once you’ve completed the six weeks — so you can carry that sense of balance and connection forward into the rest of the year.

Real Words from Real People

I could tell you all about how transformative this course can be — but it’s the words of my students from the last Beginner's Course that truly capture its heart:

“Joining the beginners yoga course absolutely changed my life, Vicki taught me so much in 6 weeks and continues to teach me something and inspire me every week I practice with her. Vicki is the most amazing human and makes me feel so safe, calm and happy in her presence. Her yoga classes are amazing and perfectly cater for every body.” - Lauren

A brilliant class for anyone to join. A totally safe space. No judgement. Vicki gives great instruction and puts no pressure on participants. It's nice to be part of a little community of women who understand and empathise with the female experience. I always leave class feeling great!" - Emma

It’s feedback like this that reminds me why I do what I do — because yoga really can change how we meet ourselves, one breath at a time.

My Approach

What makes this course a little different is that I weave together yoga’s ancient philosophy with gentle connection to the natural world — helping you tune into the quiet rhythms that so often get lost in busy modern life. You’ll leave feeling not only calmer and stronger, but also more rooted in yourself.

Yoga, at its heart, is a practice of relationship — with your body, your breath, and the world around you. The space I hold is one of reconnection, understanding, and self-kindness; a place to come home to yourself.

I call my work Soul Journey Holistic Yoga because yoga, to me, should always be holistic. It’s a path that nourishes every layer of your being — physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual. Anything less is simply exercise, and while that has its place, what I offer reaches deeper. It’s about tending to the whole of you — the parts that move, the parts that feel, and the parts that simply need to rest and be.

Come As You Are

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time” to begin yoga — this is it. The start of a new year brings a natural invitation to begin again, gently.

You don’t need fancy leggings or to be able to touch your toes. You just need an open mind, a bit of curiosity, and maybe a blanket for relaxation.
