Rooted Sangha – Session Five Summary

Updated: Sep 7

Theme: The Relief of Not Having To Hold It All

Note: As most of the conversations are sacred to the circle, I only ever offer a brief overview here.

This evening, our circle began by checking in with how we were each arriving. The unsettled weather — and the pull of the approaching September full moon — seemed to be stirring something in many of us.

We discussed the journal questions from last week, acknowledging how balance is a constantly shifting concept. Not something that can be fixed once and for all, but a living rhythm that asks for ongoing attention — a gentle dance between effort and ease, giving and receiving, rest and action.

Here is the first guided meditation to sit alongside this week's circle.

We then started looking at the next part of the chapter, which talks about how we can deal with feelings of powerlessness. I like to reframe this as 'You don't have to hold it all'.

So this week you have two meditations to enjoy, this one is just a few minutes long.

And here are the resources to sit alongside this week's sangha:

I also mentioned the Serenity Prayer, which is a beautiful reminder of the balance between surrender and action — trusting what we cannot change, while tending carefully to what we can.

The Serenity Prayer

God, Grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change,

courage to change the things I can,

and wisdom to know the difference.

And the journal prompts for this week:

  • Where in my life right now do I feel invited to soften my grip and let myself be carried?

  • Who or what holds me when I cannot hold myself? How might I allow myself to receive that support more fully?

  • If “powerless” feels heavy, what other words could I use to describe the act of surrender? (trust, openness, release, faith…)

  • Which of those words feels most comforting to me right now?

Giving Back

It was decided that, after covering room and fuel costs, all proceeds from Rooted are being saved to support a local cause, to be chosen together later this year — as a small act of Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion in action.

This week we put £15 aside again, making the total £95. We will be making our first donation of £100 next week!

Going Forward

This week's optional homework is to complete the resources in the PDF above and have a think about the journal questions. Next session, we will continue our exploration of Ahimsa.

Thank you, as always, for showing up. For listening inward. For walking this path with gentleness and grit.

May you rest in the current that carries you.

May you find strength in the art of surrender.

May you trust the unknown path ahead.

May you remember: you are held, you are guided, you are enough.

With love, Vicki x
