Rooted Sangha – Session Two Summary

Theme: What does it mean to live gently in a busy world?

We began with quiet reflection, each of us arriving from the hum of our days and settling into the circle. As a group, we explored the many textures of gentleness, along with the enemies to it: – The pause before the response – The small acts of self-sabotage we can avoid – The practice of letting ourselves rest without needing to earn it – The quiet, sacred act of choosing presence over productivity.

It is only our second week, but I'm already loving the community that is forming.

I have recorded the short guided meditation we shared in session for you to enjoy at home:

Further Reflection: Two Gentle Maps for Ahimsa

This week, I’ve created two optional resources to help you carry the theme of compassionate living into your own rhythms. You can download either (or both!) by right-clicking each image and selecting 'download'

1. The Ahimsa Spiral

Begin at the centre — with your own thoughts and breath — and spiral gently outward. This journaling sheet helps you explore how Ahimsa can unfold through your inner world and into your outer actions.

2. The Five Circles of Ahimsa

Reflect on how you embody compassion in the many roles you hold — as a mother, friend, partner, citizen, and guide. This version invites you to explore Ahimsa as a practice of alignment and integrity across your relationships and responsibilities.

Giving Back

After covering room and fuel costs, all proceeds from Rooted are being saved to support a local cause, to be chosen together later this year — as a small act of Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion in action.

This week we put £20 aside, we have a total of £35 saved so far.

Resources and Recommendations

About Time (a film, recommended by Claira)

Make Change That Lasts (a book, recommended by Steph)

Almost anything written by Dr. Gabor Mate :)

Going Forward

Next session, on 20th August, we will continue our exploration of Ahimsa and move onto the concept of courage.

We are exploring The Yamas & The Niyamas by Deborah Adele across the next 8 months, one chapter per month. August’s focus is Ahimsa (Compassion). No pressure to read, but it will give you a deeper understanding of what we cover in this session and in our yoga classes.

Whether you were with us in person or following along from afar, you are warmly part of this circle 💛 Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or if you just want to chat.
